However, the concept of organic farming is not new to India. Indian Farmers traditionally have been organic farmers. They have always followed indigenous farming principles and practices for sustainable farming and preservation of environment.

India produces a wide range of spices and is a prominent participant in world spice production. As it has been blessed with varying climates - from tropical to sub-tropical to temperate-almost all spices grow splendidly in India. Almost all the states and union territories of India grow some spice or the other.
